About Us
The Springdale Police Department currently provides law enforcement for the towns of Springdale, Rockville and the historic ghost town of Grafton. The Department consists of the Police Chief, two Lieutenants, and five (7) full-time police officers.
Population
Springdale and Rockville have a combined population of approximately 850 citizens who reside year round here in the canyon. Springdale, which is located at the west entrance of Zion National Park, receives approx. 5 million visitors annually. Our agency patrols approximately 8 miles of State Road Number 9, which runs to the entrance of Zion National Park and through the communities we cover.
Responsibilities
The Police Department oversees animal control, school crossing guard, parking enforcement and enforces all local and state criminal statutes. We work hand in hand with Zion National Park Law Enforcement Rangers. Our agency also works with various events held here in Zion Canyon, including the Zion Half Marathon, Red Rock Relay Race, the Butch Cassidy 10K/5K Race, and various other events which are held here annually.
School Involvement
We work closely with the Springdale Elementary School and routinely stop by the school to visit the students and teachers. We also help host events, including a Safety Week (During Red Ribbon Week) in the early fall where we partner with other agencies to teach safety activities to the students.
