Zion Scenic Byway

The Zion Scenic Byway begins in La Verkin and follows Utah State Route 9 to the south entrance of Zion National Park. The Scenic Byway continues through the Park on the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway to the Park's east entrance. The Byway is a Utah State designated scenic byway.

The Byway showcases incredible scenery with towering sandstone cliffs and majestic mesa. The Virgin River runs alongside the Byway and offers opportunities for recreation, as well as important riparian habitat for wildlife. Historical and cultural amenities are scattered throughout the Byway corridor. The Grafton ghost town, historic cemeteries and well-preserved historic homes and buildings all are reminders of the area's history of settlement. Archeological resources preserve the story of the region's earliest inhabitants. Hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, river tubing and a host of other activities provide recreation options for every ability and interest.

To help promote and preserve the Byway's important resources the ZC3 completed a Corridor Management Plan (CMP) (PDF)  and an Interpretive Plan (PDF) for the Byway. The CMP outlines goals and strategies to help residents and visitors of Zion Canyon more fully enjoy and appreciate the incredible amenities the area has to offer. The Interpretive Plan contains strategies to highlight the corridor's incredible scenery, interesting history, and fascinating geology.
